Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton is in India this week with a group of WUSTL leaders and MAGEEP members to first talk about global energy and environmental solutions and then meet with the university’s International Advisory Council for Asia. The symposium continues, with a visit from a United Nations official and a trip through Mumbai to visit co-host institution Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.

?Douglas W. Hanto, MD, PhD, is the new associate dean for continuing medical education (CME) at the School of Medicine. Hanto, who previously served on the medical school faculty, returns to St. Louis from Harvard Medical School, where he was the Lewis Thomas Professor of Surgery and chief of the Division of Transplantation at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Pulitzer Prize-winning political journalist and author George F. Will delivered the fall 2012 keynote speech Dec. 4 for the John C. Danforth Center on Religion & Politics in Graham Chapel. While here, Will met with students and faculty and also sat down with Marie Griffith, PhD, director of the center, to discuss the role of religion and politics in the recent presidential election, among other topics.

Frances “Fran” (nee Maric) Winker, a patient service representative in orthopedic surgery at the School of Medicine, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, in an accident on Interstate 44. She was 49.
